The Cafe

The final Cafe painting.

A big thanks to everyone who came to the Hong Kong show, it was a crazy crazy time!

Ooops, forgot to include some details, here you go:

this ones rotated so it's easier to see the details, plus the jars are about the loosest part of the painting - you can see the brushstrokes if that's your kind of thing.

That is insanely good.

Wow, someday I hope to have even a small portion of this technical finesse.

Interesting how you initially posted the comp as a landscape, yet here, a portrait, I find it easier to relate to. Magnificent work. I'd love to meet this piece in the flesh.

wow i love this picture so much! have any plans on selling some prints?

jem said...

Peter - Yeah, the painting always worked both ways, but I slowly gravitated to this rotation, I think the composition is stronger.

jem said...

Ian - Prints are coming! More details soon.

Love it ... I'm not even going to think about how you rendered that light cover, I'm going crazying just looking at it. This beats most of the 3d rendered stuff I see around the nets.

Holy nuts! Look at the hardwood floor.

Absolutely stunning. The details coupled with the grace of the piece as a whole are simply a feast for the eyes. Looking forward to the prints.

The magnitude of your work is beyond words Jeremy. Brilliant, and it's inspiring the lot of us. Thanks for posting!

guys - thankyou, i honestly wasn't sure whether it was working until the end, it's nice to know it is.

jem said...

ty - that light cover almost did me in!

this composition is so wonderful. I have loved a lot of your works, but this one just surpassed a whole slew of them on my list of favorites.

I can't stop looking at it. It gives me vertigo and at the same time puts a huge smile on my face because it's so beautiful.

thnaks david- good to hear!

Awesome. I would love to see a close up shot of this so I could see your brush work. Great mood.

I have the greatest honor to see this painting in person in the HK Venture Show, and i can truly feel that i'm witnessing the process of the painting. It's simply amazing...and really nice talking to you Jeremy.Cheers

I don't believe I've left a comment in this blog yet, Jeremy, but I've long admired the highly polished realism you bring into your work. This painting you posted hear has left all of your previous paintings behind. It's a fantastic and convincing piece of work. In the words of Queen Anne, "awful, artificial, and amusing." :)

Moai said...

Oh, and I forgot to ask if you could post some closeups of this. I'm curious how the brushwork looks zoomed in.

ennui said...

@Moai; The brushwork on this painting was hardly existent. At the 3A show I was impressed to realise that the details are still spot on when you're a hair's distance from it.

Jem: This is one of my favourite paintings by you. You've seriously rocked this café and I'm still floored when I look at it!! And thanks for coming to HK, it was awesome to hang out. Glad you returned safely.

jem said...

whacked the details up

jem said...

thanks ennui! good to hang out with you!

You may have stated previously if there is a standard size you work, but I missed it if you did. What size is this? Oil on linen again, I assume? Just curious. Still staring at it days later.

Jeffrey W. Meyer said...

My mind just caved in...

Superior work!

jem said...

thanks guys

david, it's oil on linen, I cant remember the measurements off the top of my head, but this photo gives it scale
